Javier Carrillo - No Sorrow (single)
Javier Carrillo is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been playing guitar since he was 12. Born in Peru, his biggest influences were the alternative rock from the 80s and 90s, and the "trova" music so popular in South America.Later he moves to Italy where he polished his piano skills. The vibrant Bologna sees his first performances in Europe. Motivated by its vibrant music scene, he moves to Ireland where he joins a songwriting programme at BIMM which also connects him with local bands like Darwin's Daughter and NIMF with whom he collaborates as guitarist and drummer.
In 2017, he jumps to the Dublin scenarios as a solo artist and releases his first single, Talking Dogs, a dreamy indie song about goodbyes. His new single No Sorrow combines his knowledge and influence gained while studying in BIMM songwriting programme, Dublin and his love of ‘Trova’ music popular in South America. The style blends into a wonderful dreamy yet punchy indie pop song. This is his first solo release since ‘Talking Dogs’ in 2017 and has continued to shape his sound and carve a space for himself in the Dublin scene. Skip to 2021 and with the help of Dublin producer and BIMM tutor, Tully Gunn he has recorded "No Sorrow", an introspective song yet bursting with resilience and hope.
Javier says, ‘This song is about keeping our hope unbroken in what often seems to be a hopeless world. With everyone telling you that there is no point in trying, we must find that space inside of us where we can stand up and fight back. I arranged this song inspired by soft rock from the 80s – which I love, and Tully’s modern production really made it shine.’
His time in Dublin has involved some wonderful collaborations with Irish acts including Darwin’s Daughter and NIMF whom he has contributed as a multi instrumentalist, playing guitar and drums on some of their projects. His songwriting has come to attention of successful UK producers ‘Present day Production’ winning their prestigious song contest with his track "All My Life”. The prize will see the song produced by renowned mixer and masterer Sam Reck and his team of top UK musicians. This will be released in 2022.
‘No Sorrow’ is the first of three singles to be released in the coming months that will build up to Javier Carrillo’s debut EP in summer 2022. Catchy pop track where Carrillo's vocal grabs your attention instantly. The lyrics are quite universal and will without doubt resonate with those who lend their ears to it. With this musically colourful piece Carrillo tries to give us an advice to be ourselves and have no regrets in terms of being who we truly are. Whatever other people may think. Isn't this something we all face from time to time? Judgements, expectations, rejection. No Sorrow is a wake up call for our real being. .
