Demi Michelle is an award-winning songwriter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After taking home USA Female Album of the Year (Bronze) at the 2023 ISSA Awards for It Is What It Is, landing a cover story in her local newspaper, and being added to her former middle school’s Wall of Fame, Demi Michelle is ready to kick off her Hear Me Out chapter with the release of the album’s emotional lead single, “Kind Heart.”
This song is a delicate piano ballad featuring flute and explores the deep truth about what it’s like to be a kind person. In the chorus, Demi sings, “If it’s true that kindness doesn’t cost a thing, then why do I feel like I’ve spent everything? They say being nice goes a long way, but a thousand miles wouldn’t change how it’s kinda hard having a kind heart.”
The inspiration for this song comes from Demi’s desire to always remain kind, despite the challenges that come along with this. She hopes this song shines a light on how sometimes, the ones with the biggest hearts and smiles are facing difficult emotions, though they don’t show it.
